Abstract
Game theory is a set of mathematical tools suitable to the modeling and optimization of problems involving agents with conflicting interests competing for limited resources. It applies well for a number of problems in wireless communication, including power control. In this work, some basic concepts on game theory are presented and the power control problem in wireless data systems is approached as a noncooperative game. Finally, a new distributed power control algorithm based on the game theory is developed and compared to the classical distributed power control.
