Abstract
This paper analyzes the transmission of digitally modulated signals using M-ary amplitude and quadrature modulation schemes (M-QAM), for channels subject to η−µ fading and Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN). New exact expressions to compute the Bit Error Probability (BEP) of the M-QAM scheme for Single Input and Single Output (SISO) systems, and for the Maximum Ratio Combiner (MRC) receiver are described. In addition, BEP curves are presented, as a function of the signalto-noise ratio, for different orders of the M-QAM constellation, different fading parameters and selected number of branches (L) at the combiner.
