4G/5G Radio Quality Evaluation at Brazilian University Campuses: A Case Study

Resumo
This study examines 4G and 5G mobile network coverage and link quality on a Brazilian university campus. Empirical cumulative distribution functions of the reference signal received power (RSRP) and the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) are employed to assess coverage and link quality in both indoor and outdoor environments. Measurement campaign results indicate that indoor areas remain insufficiently covered, while higher RSRP values in outdoor settings do not consistently yield proportional improvements in SINR, suggesting interference-limited operation. These results underscore the need to implement new strategies to enhance mobile coverage and link quality on university campuses.
