Abstract

This article develops an assessment of the WSD (White Space Device) transmission power optimization for the Iagg calculation methodology. This methodology was developed to constrain the aggregate interference to the interference limit imposed by the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) system. The Iagg methodology with and without optimization is compared to the Ofcom methodology. The latter determines the WSD transmission power based on a single-entry interference and does not impose constraint on aggregate interference generated by multiple WSDs. The evaluation demonstrates the importance of optimization in obtaining a better performance from Iagg methodology. In addition, it is verified that the Iagg methodology with optimization represents an effective protection for the DTT receiver.
