Abstract
This article presents the analysis of polyphonic music signals using the Fan Chirp Transform (FChT). Its main innovation consists in using a timbre-independent salience function, instead of the classical approach where a partial accumulation is computed. A set of simulations allows one to conclude that the proposed approach yields better results for noise-corrupted signals besides lower computational complexity.
