Abstract

Systems based on Software Defined Radio (SDR) are appearing as alternative technology for communication systems, either because of its flexibility or its attractive cost. This work presents the steps of design, assembly and operational testing of a Analogic Picture Transmission (APT) signal receiving system using two SDR platforms: the Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) and the USB Digital TV Receiver RTL2832. Therefore, with the low-cost system presented in this paper, space satellite images from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) can be taken for any purpose.
