A Study on the Impact of the Time-Aware Shaper on Best-Effort Traffic
Time-Sensitive NetworksTime-Aware ShaperSimulation
Resumo
The goal of Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) is to provide high-performance deterministic communication and enable different traffic types (e.g., time-critical, Best-Effort, and audio/video streams) to coexist without interfering with the latency requirements of critical flows. To achieve this, techniques such as packet scheduling are applied. In this work, we show how the Best-Effort traffic is impacted when a TSN schedule is applied to the network, using latency and jitter as analysis parameters. To validate the impact of TSN mechanisms on Best-Effort traffic, a simulation-based approach with support for multiple traffic classes, including fault injection, time-critical and Best-Effort flows, is adopted.
