Abstract
This work presents a prototype of an electronic vein finder. The prototype was developed on the Raspberry Pi 3 platform, to which an infrared emitter and sensor set and a portable screen were attached. The entire system is orchestrated by Python code, responsible for acquiring the image, processing it and displaying it. Processing includes image reduction, contrast enhancement and vein segmentation. At the end we show how each processing step impacts the acquired image, and how the final image emphasizes the location of the veins.
