Abstract
Norm-based spectrum sensors may improve the performance of the energy detector (ED) and absolute value cumulating (AVC) detector in non-Gaussian environments, alleviating performance degradation due to impulsive noise, which is modeled by heavy-tailed probability density functions. This study assesses the performance of Norm-based detectors for cooperative spectrum sensing under Laplacian noise, estimating the probability of detection while holding a fixed probability of false alarm across system parameters variations. Numerical results confirm that robustness against impulsive noise varies with the chosen norm.
