Abstract
This paper presents the development of a monitoring and collection system of relevant and necessary data for early diagnosis and consequent prevention of natural disasters based on the LoRa architecture. A sensor node, a gateway, and a network server are built. The communication performance between the sensor node and the gateway is evaluated to establish the coverage area. The evaluation is carried out in a field test, checking packet loss rate, throughput, and delay, varying the spreading factor. The results show that the urban environment impairs performance, limiting the coverage area to 250 m in the test environment.
