Abstract
This paper presents an orthogonal chirp-division multiplexing (OCDM)-based reference signal intended for implementation in a power line communication (PLC) channel measurement methodology, paired with the Schmidl & Cox symbol block synchronization scheme. The performance of this proposal is assessed through numerical comparisons with a discrete multitone (DMT) modulation-based reference signal, focusing on synchronization point estimation and peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). The obtained results indicate that while the OCDM-based reference signal parallels the DMT-based one in terms of synchronization point estimation, it also offers the advantage of a reduced PAPR.
