Abstract
"Presented in this paper are some variations of a new, DPCM based, non-causal and non-linear prediction technique for lossless digital image compression. The prediction scheme is based on first-order non-causal prediction using one of the neighborhood pixels as the predicted value. The information of which one of these pixels was used as the predicted value is saved as side position information. Same variations of the scheme were developed in order to improve results. The method was applied to the Y-components of five JPEG test images. Comparative results are presented. "
