Abstract
Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs), with mobility support, are subject to disconnections due to postural variations typical of human movement; that is, WBANs of this type exhibit similar behavior to DTN (Delay Tolerant Networks). In this way, we propose the alpha-ProPHET, a modification of a DTN algorithm that incorporates the residual energy of the sensor in the forwarding decision. Through simulations, we evaluate the proposed algorithm with others from the literature. We use a pattern of movement based on real situations and typical postures of the human being, in order to obtain results that are closer to reality. Finally, it was verified that the DTN algorithms were more efficient than the traditional when submitted to WBANs with mobility.
