Abstract
This work presents the development of a high-performance and low-profile pyramidal horn antenna, manufactured in a 3D printer. Experimental results validate the antenna fabrication approach, providing 13.11 dBi gain, a bandwidth of 49% centered at 4 GHz and 97% radiation efficiency. The antenna has been applied to a bistatic radar system, with the purpose of detecting diverse targets, including pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and vehicles. The cooperative detection results of an automobile, using the proposed antenna, have demonstrated a 275% increase in the radar range, when compared to a commercial and conventional horn antenna.
