Abstract

In this paper, we explore the propagation of highquality predictions in low-motion or no-motion macroblocks and we propose a simplified mode selection and quantizer parameter adaptation algorithms that increase rate-distortion performance and may potentially reduce encoding complexity of H.264/AVC. Results show that the proposed scheme can outperform regular H.264/AVC by up to 1.0 dB in low-motion sequences.
