Abstract
In this paper, the performance of different relay selection schemes is assessed in terms of the outage probability for a cognitive relaying network with underlay spectral sharing, which consists of multiple decode-and-forward relays operating in full-duplex mode. Four relay selection criteria are considered, namely: (i) optimal selection criterion, which requires global knowledge of the channel state information in the network; and three suboptimal selection criteria, which require partial knowledge of the channel state information, considering (ii) the self-interference links at the relays, (iii) the source-relay links, and (iv) the relay-destination links. An arbitrary power allocation between the source and the selected relay is also considered. For this scenario, the joint effect of the interference temperature at the primary receiver, the maximum power available at the secondary nodes, and the self-interference at the relays is evaluated through exhaustive Monte Carlo simulations.
